Nurses Tried, But Could Not Save Motorcyclist

On behalf of The Law Offices of Howard Kornberg Posted in Motorcycle Accident

Last week, a McBride High School student was killed after a pickup truck collided with his motorcycle at the intersection of Gondar Avenue and Wardlow Road.

After the 17-year-old was hit, he was tended to by two off-duty nurses who attempted CPR. Unfortunately, the damage was done. The boy had suffered severe head trauma. A woman taped a sign to a light post at the scene that says, ‘Please Slow Down.’

Classmates went to the site of the accident the next day and were met by the boy’s father who thanked them for being there. A memorial was set up at the boy’s usual parking space at the school.

While we are not sure of the exact cause of why the driver of the pickup truck crashed into the motorcycle, we know that motorcycle collision almost always cause some kind of injury. Do you know what to do if you or your loved one need a motorcycle crash lawyer?

Turn to the Law Offices of Howard Kornberg. Their knowledgeable and experienced lawyer will work with you to ensure you get the compensation you need for your accident-related expenses.

The Scary Statistics

California has the most registered motorcycles of any state, with nearly 900,000. There were more than 14,000 motorcycle accident injuries in California for the latest reporting year. They were 548 motorcyclist fatalities.

We know that crashes can be devastating to motorcyclists. They do not have much protection from the impact of a vehicle and a helmet can only prevent so much. We commonly see severe injuries, including spinal cord damage, internal organ damage, soft tissue trauma, broken bones, and head trauma.

These injuries usually require immediate and costly medical care and long-term rehabilitation is often necessary for a person to make a full recovery.

We know that drunk drivers pose significant risks to everyone they operate a vehicle around, especially motorcycle riders. There were nearly 30,000 alcohol-related injuries and over 1,500 alcohol-related deaths from vehicle accidents in California’s latest reporting year.

Just as dangerous are drivers who are distracted by their phones or other devices. Despite laws regarding texting and driving, we know this is common on the roadway and that it is causing other people harm.

Motorcyclists are vulnerable, and careless drivers pose a significant danger to their well-being.
