Samsung had a rough 2016, but it seems their problems are still not over. They had to recall several washers that were reported to be exploding. The company had to recall 2.8 million machines due to a design defect. The machines were supposedly fixed by the company but many customers are now finding even more problems like never-ending cycles. In one instance a couple who the machine repaired but the machine now constantly shuts off and is unbalanced resulting in one load of laundry taking three days to wash. Customers also had the option to buy a new Samsung washer and be reimbursed. For those who chose this option, the check still has not arrived. None of this helps Samsung’s case. It is instead further evidence that can be used by a product liability lawyer in Los Angeles.
Legally any repair on a recalled item is supposed to come with a one-year warranty. Samsung can be held liable for any injuries that result from faulty machines even more so after a recall. Companies have several steps to take for a successful recall. There needs to be a plan of action before issuing the recall so that it can be taken care of as effectively as possible. The products must be reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Companies will need to go over the CPSC checklist and begin issuing notifications using their website, social media and other forms of public announcements. Retailers and consumers will need to be contacted directly as well so every base is covered. Once the statements and documents have been released the CPSC will continue to monitor the recall. Until the products are fixed, companies may be required to give monthly progress reports on the status of recalls.
