$6.1 million awarded to injured violinist

A woman who was seriously injured in a bicycle-car accident in 2014 has been awarded $6.1 million by a jury in Los Angeles. The woman who struck the bicyclist ran a Santa Monica red light.

It took the jury just a few hours to determine the damages for the plaintiff, as the defendant in the case had already admitted that she was negligent when she struck the bicyclist.

The woman on the bicycle was a renowned violinist. She was highly sought-after in the pop music industry according to the lawsuit. She had arranged and recorded music for Billy Ray Cyrus, Lorne Balfe, Paul Anka and David Foster, as well as many others. She had performed at the Grammy's, as well as "Dancing with the Stars," "American Idol" and "The Voice." The jury saw a video on the woman's skills that was taken before she was injured.

Her injuries included severe pain in her shoulder and neck. She also suffered numbness in the fingers of her left hand.

While most people are not world-renowned musicians, when you are hurt in an accident that is not your fault, you do have a right to seek compensation for your losses and damages. You might be able to seek damages for pain and suffering, medical expenses, emotional distress and much more. An attorney can help you understand your case in Los Angeles and its chance of success. In some cases, an insurance company might offer a settlement that is not fair. Those cases deserve to go to trial to get you the money to continue your case later on if needed.
